About Classics and Performance

History

Classics and Performance became a reality in 2002 when I decided to turn my magazine idea into an actual publication. It lasted all of one issue which was published in the beginning of 2003.

I quickly realized that a paper magazine was simply going to cost too much to start and it eventually migrated to the internet when I decided that, although I had no experience creating websites, it was the only medium I could afford.

My first attempts were rocky, but in September of ‘04 I made a “successful” transition from paper to e-zine. It took another eight months for me to get the hang of running the website and in May of ‘05, it got a freshened look and a more functional navigation which you see now.

Focus

From the beginning, I’ve attempted to take a different approach with Classics and Performance. I felt that traditional car magazines lacked the kind of in-depth information and artistic focus I was looking for.

I wanted to know the whole story of a project car, the good and the bad. I wanted the opportunity to learn from the failures, not just the successes, of other people. I wanted real world tips and not just to the common problems but the ones I was going to run into. I wanted reviews that were approached from a personal and honest perspective that would give me insight into how well a product worked or didn’t. I wanted complete technical information. I wanted to know the science behind the technology and the REAL reasons things worked or didn’t. I was tired of hearing wives tales about cars and popular opinion. I wanted more than the mechanic/enthusiast perspective, I wanted the design, engineering and scientific perspective. I wanted a holistic approach that showed everything it took to do a project from beginning to end. I wanted the information presented clearly and concisely with an artist’s eye for detail and beauty.

To that end, my focus with Classics and Performance is to provide clear, in-depth, comprehensive information, with passion, intellectual curiosity and a personal touch with an artist’s eye for beauty and detail to the best of my ability.
