Laughter
by Ryan King

I was left with two choices, laugh or cry.
Let me give you the scenario.
There I was, having laid down the first coat of Eastwood Extreme Chassis Gloss Black on the radiator hold down components (two clamps and their accompanying bolts) for the Project Commuter Mustang. I wasn’t sure if I liked the way the paint was flowing over the primer, as it seemed to have a lot of jagged ridges (mind you, I don’t mean orange peel). Since Extreme Chassis Black can’t be sanded, only scuffed for a recoat, I was concerned that I would have to strip and repaint them, especially the bolts.
So my choices were “do I continue to lay down coats and hope the paint covers better or do I stop and strip them now.”
Well, life intervened for me as it has SO many times on this project. A gust of wind hit the rack I was painting the parts on and knocked the bolts to the ground getting dirt in the paint and ruining them.
I guess my decision was made for me, however, given the number of challenges and setbacks I’ve had with the Project Commuter I wasn’t sure how I felt about one more obvious life-induced hurdle, regardless of the size.
Suffice it to say I feel a bit disappointed, but have decided to laugh about it.
I have to at this point.
