There's CoO, then there's RCoO.
CoO is the Cost of Ownership.
RCoO is the REAL Cost of Ownership.
As I've progressed in my hobby, I've discovered that the real cost of ownership is a bitch.
Real cost of ownership isn't just oil changes and other planned service and maintenance. Real cost of ownership doesn't even stop at planning for the unexpected, up to and including major repairs.
No, real cost of ownership includes any modifications you are going to make. The gas spent on driving it. The insurance. Even the cost of the restoration or customization that will be done every time it reaches the end of its service life.
And that isn't all.
It also includes the tools, the energy, the time, the facilities, the expertise, and more you will need to do whatever it is you want to do to it.
Real cost of ownership includes A LOT.
So be prepared. Next time you want that classic — or even modern — Corvette, Mustang, or Camaro. That son of a bitch is gonna take a bite out of you — WAY more than you paid for the pile of parts you purchased.
And if you're sweating the cost to buy it, just forget it. It's beyond you before you even start.
I'm truly sorry, but the truth really hurts sometimes.
