Fox Body Mustang Restoration: 1979-1993
The final coat of primer before the buildup to the final clear is primer/sealer. For Bruno — a 1984 Ford Mustang Convertible updated to 1986 bodywork showcased in Fox Body Mustang Restoration: 1979-1993 — that primer/sealer comes from GlasUrit.
The primer/sealer coat is necessary to make certain the underlying paint and body filler is compatible with the color coat so that it doesn't bubble and peel. I can only imagine that if rework is a serious issue for a normal bodyshop, it must be even worse for one that does complete restorations — so it had better be right the first time. Choosing a good shop for your own restoration is critical for that reason and many others. This job was done by Scott Brideau at Car Concepts in Nampa, Idaho. Photo: Jim Smart.
