Dirt on Brake Backing Plate
Dirty Brake Backing Plate
The first part I tried it on was this brake backing plate from my '93 Mustang. As you can see it had some pretty caked on dirt, I don't know if there's any dried brake fluid on it as I never saw them wet. Photo: Ryan King, 2006. Click image to enlarge.
Clean Brake Backing Plate
As you can see in the photo, the GreaseMaster cleaned the plate nearly completely and didn't harm the powder coating at all. The only "dirt" left on the plate wouldn't budge...even with denatured alcohol (a great, less destructive brake cleaner as opposed to actual brake cleaner) or soap and water. I eventually used Rusteco and it was able to break up whatever was on the plate and remove it. Photo: Ryan King, 2006. Click image to enlarge.
